The Spiderwick Chronicles the Movie
Before distributing this worksheet, i asked students to work in pairs and discussed magical creatures that they had heard off or introduced to from fairytales. After that, i wrote some of the magical creatures names from the movie on the whiteboard and asked them to predict what these creatures looked like.
Then, we watched the movie. In the next class, of the same week, students were grouped in fours and they had to come out with their own magical creatures : this includes simple drawing of the creatures, characteristics, strength and weakeness and any additional information that they might add such as language, food and origins. Later, i compiled all these as the class´s Field Guide.
