Sumanga, the Bestower of Luck (or Jinx)
This fairytale was based on a supernatural creature known to the Bajau community as Sumanga. Sumanga was referred to as the spirit of wooden sailing vessel that Bajau community built and used for fishing and other activities. Sumanga could influence the fishing activities since it was known as the bestower of luck. However, if people misbehave or break certain traditional rules, Sumanga could jinx the people and they will experience a series of undesirable incidents.
