A great activity to get everyone chatty!! Here are the instructions: -First a brief intro. Tell your students they are at a party. At this party, there are 4 robbers and 3 detectives but they donīt know who they are. By asking each other questions (for ex. their likes, dislikes, hobbies, nationality...), they have to find out who the robbers and the detectives are. If you want, just to make things easier, you can give them a few clues about the robbers. You can tell a thing or two about each one. -Robbers and detectives have to hide their identities. On the cards, there is personal info for everyone except the detectives. Detectives should come up with their own story. They can say they are doctors, lawyers whatever. So for the detectives, donīt pick lower level students. -After reading their cards, they start chatting, asking each other questions. To find out the detectives, they should look for someone who is a bit suspicious, someone asking many questions to everyone or telling a different story each time. To find out the robbers, they can use the clues youīve given or they can just guess. -After about 20 mins, stop them and ask their guesses first for the detectives. After finding out who the detectives are, ask the detectives to give info about the robbers and write them on the board. Ex: He had a motorbike. He had paint on his hand. Explain that each clue reveals something about the robber. For example for this one, it means the robber has a motorbike or someone he knows has a motorbike and he likes painting or drawing. Let them think and work out the clues, if they want they can ask further questions to each other.
