Writing Scoring Rubrics
UPDATE 22/3/2011: I added a rubric at the end for a group sonnet project. Great assignment for teaching poetic structure, rhyme scheme, and scansion. It also helps students think carefully about vocabulary. it works well as a group project because of the modular nature of the genre.
Here are 5 scoring rubrics that I have fine-tuned over the years to try to make my writing scoring more objective. A course I teach is called Genre Writing, so students´ ability to apply the features of specific genres - academic, short story, journalistic, and report - is important to evaluate. These are highly tweakable, so I hope you find them useful!
