"The Dollsī Christmas Party" - 1st lesson of a Task of 4 to welcome students in 2009
Well, itīs more than obvious that I couldnīt resist making a new set of lessons for 2009. This first lesson - 90 minutes - focuses on reading and speaking. I chose a very nice, easy short story and made some reading tasks (3 pages): 3 pre-reading activities, one speculating about the story through the title, and the other 2 on vocabulary to prepare the students for the reading activities; after reading, students find out if they guessed right or wrong (ex. 1) and discuss it with the whole class, justifying their opinions. Then they solve 3 different exercises on the first part of the story (T/F, multiple choice and opposites) and other 3 on the last part (multiple choice, references and equivalents).
