Gamer Language - Computer Games (Abbreviations)
This is a fun handout about the language that is used mostly by young people who play computer games on the internet. They use all kinds of abbreviations which mean certain things and if you want to play these games, you have to know the abbreviations. I did that in a fun lesson where I wanted to show my students that it is important to know English for a variety of reasons. I started with a discussion about computer games in general, they told me what games they played and then we did the handout. They loved it and it was good fun. I did it as a competition in groups (each group had a real gamer ;-) and the group able to solve most of the abbreviations won.
