READ AND EXPAND - advanced text work
This is a collection of 8 lesson plans for 8 different texts (some of which I can thank some ESL members for), which I am planning to use with my advanced (even some intermediate) groups. They require reading, writing, vocabulary expansion, etc., and contain texts, tasks, follow-up essay or discussion ideas and game ideas. They are not typical text...

CREATIVE WORKSHOP - tell the tale
These are the basic principles which guide me in most of my creative workshops and discussions. It offers very little printable materials to sts (you can even get away with none), but gives them lots of hints, preparatory work and ideas. It teaches them to think, organize their ideas and argument their thoughts. The principle can be applied in many...

Halloween scary story worksheet
This is a worksheet I created along with the ppt, but it can be used separately. My intermediate and advanced teenage students love writing Halloween stories, especially if I let them write with a partner. It´s a simple worksheet with the beginning of a mystery which they have to expand, finish, change, whatever. I hope you find it useful!

HERCULE POIROT- detective magnifique
My kids loved Poirot - he was funny, yet clever and worth admiration. They wanted more, so we combined TV-series(this is The Veiled lady) and reading Agatha Christie. The great thing about it is that Poirot speaks the French(i. e. Belgian) English, so they love correcting his word order and pronunciation. This is a classical ws to check understandi...

COLLOCATIONS - extracting from a text and writing with collocations
This is a 3-page worksheet for collocations. The first page is a text with collocations to practise extracting them from a text, and pages 2-3 are prepared for a writing task using all kinds of collocations (I used some collocations info and lists from http://www.englishclub.com/vocabulary/collocations-samples.htm, but the tasks are mine.) Hope you...

DANCE & WHAT PARENTS EXPECT
This is part 4 of my collection of songs and socially important texts. It´s based on Lee Ann Womack´s song I Hope You Dance, and it deals with what our parents expect from us and what we think they do. It contains a lyrics ws, a writing task and a wonderful text to read and discuss. I hope you find it useful, especially for teenagers and high schoo...

CRIME VOCABULARY
This is a fill-in (with list of words provided) on court and crime vocabulary. I found it very useful while doing the crime units, and after doing the ws, we played word games with the given vocabulary and I had pairs of students write crime stories using the list of given words. It was very useful and fun, especially the follow-up story writing.

seasons - sort out the vocabulary
This is a sorting out ws, which is fairly simple and can be used for elementary sts of all ages. The great thing about this activity is that you can apply the idea to any knowledge level, any vocabulary and all ages, and you can do it as a game anywhere, with very little time to prepare and practically no extra materials, because it can even be don...
