A fill-in exercise as a follow-up to my domino puzzle. The sentences mostly come from various on-line dictionaries, mainly from Merriam-Webster. The list of the words to be filled-in is included. You can also have a look at the domino puzzle that is among my worksheets.

Song: introduction to the topic writing letters or present perfect continuous
A nice song that can be used as an introduction to the topic writing letters or to the present perfect continuous tense. Students listen and fill in the words that are missing, the first letter is given. Then you can discuss the grammar.

Verb patterns betting game
Students decide, whether the sentences are grammatically correct or not, and correct the sentences, if there is a mistake. Why did the chicken cross the road
A starter for the topic famous personalities or scientists. Suitable especially for adults. First ask the students to answer the famous question themselves: Why did the chicken cross the road? Then give them the "quotations" and let them discuss in pairs who could have said that. Finally give them the names to be matched with the "quotations".
