Present perfect continuous - The accusation game
This game illustrates the use of the present perfect continuous for present result. Students work in small groups to guess what they are being accused of. Detailed instructions on page 2. Students may feel a bit uneasy at first since they have to "accuse" another student, but once they get going itīs really good fun! My students enjoyed it a lot.

Reporting verbs - Pairwork
Students read their sentences to their partner. Their partner has to report what has just been said using a reporting verb. Students check if their partner is doing it correctly by looking at the solution in brackets. I use this activity with Unit 5C of New English File Upper Intermediate, but it can be used with any book.

Weird Laws - Pairwork - must, have to, allowed to, canīt etc.
Pairwork. Students individually read their part of the worksheet, then report the information to their partner. Together they decide if the laws are real or not, using the target language (e.g. "In France they have to...."). Set a time for this (about 15ī). Finally tell them that the laws are ALL true! The language of discussions - The media
