Im a Brit living in Spain teaching English because thats all I could find over here. I like it though. I also upload my worksheets on ISL Collective, normally a day or two after I have done so here. br You can order my books by pasting this into the browser: https://www.amazon.es/Dale-Bates/e/B08QD5M5PQ?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&qid=1613573760&sr=8-1

What does it mean? 2
The second of my quizzes for students that speak Romance languages. Some false friends and some cognates as well as some of the more mundane but not so well-known words in common usage. Divide students into small teams and award each team a point for the right answer. Answer key provided. Have fun!

Fatboy: A reading
I wrote this a few years back because I didnt like the way the other kids kept calling one of their number "Gordito" and they never took any notice when I told them it was rude. Mind you, they loved the story when I made them read it and although they still called him "Gordito," they never said it to him in English. So mission accomplished - kind ...

Heteronym Reading Exercise
Heteronyms are words that are written the same but pronounced differently and have different meanings. Here is a little worksheet that Ive used for a few years with my advanced groups to test their pronunciation. Proceed as you see fit but I always run through the vocabulary box at the top first and give both pronunciations. After that, they take ...

Weather idioms exercise with key
A small cloze exercise for advanced students complete with key and fully editable. Something I did a few years ago and it has been sitting on my PC doing nothing ever since. Not sure if some of the expressions are different the other side of the pond or not. You might need to check.

IT Crowd S2 Episode 1 Work outing
A question list for use with Series 2 Episode 1 of the IT Crowd. Ive seen a couple of excellent worksheets for this very episode, by the way, but my students like big question lists to see how many they can answer. If this sheet isnt what youre looking for just enter IT Crowd in the search box and you might find what youre looking for.

Real Estate Worksheet
Ive been using this for about 10 years now and its a pretty flexible little worksheet. I use it to accompany a chapter we have to do with renting flats and houses. I normally start by going through the Estate agents key on the second page and then move to the first page which is used as a reading (for correcting pronunciation etc.) I then field ...

Phrasal verbs with look

Idioms with food
This could be used to test the students knowledge of idiomatic expression with food or as a guessing game. I always make them give me a fresh example after they get one right. I may update this with a related bingo activity at a later date.
