Can anyone tell me exactly what this expression refers to?

It is a financial term. When you are doing your profit and loss statement and you have spent more than you have earned the "minus"(or the money overdrawn)  used to be written in red ink.  When you put more money in the account and the figure becomes a profit you are "in the black again" ie the figures are recorded in black or blue ink again. So basically it mean everything is okay again.
