Teaching 2 -3 year olds

I think teaching letter names and sounds together is OK for older learners. With younger learners the above method works better. That s what I have found out myself during the ten-year period of teaching English - it s not too long but long enough I think. I m glad that I helped you.
Enjoy your classes!

I know this is an old post, but I teach two-year-olds. As far as alphabets and phonics go, I teach them together. I use alphabet flashcards with pictures that are relevant to the sound and have actions. ah-ah-Aa (moving arms like an alligators mouth) Aa is for alligator. I have two year old students who can see those letters and remember the letters name and sound because of the action associated with it. As far as teaching other lessons in English, I create thematic units with hands on activities and story books that re-enforce vocabulary. Some are also based on songs we normally go to on YouTube. It makes teaching the theme and language quicker because theres a song to go with it. Check out my blog: https://ohayoubrittneysensei.blogspot.com
