Help ^_^

Hi all,
I gave the children some pictures and asked them to write sentence about the pictures for homework. For this picture below, do you think the correct sentence is:
The children are playing see-saw.
OR
The children are playing on see-saw.

Thanks in advance,
Amna

Or
The children are seesawing.

Definition of seesawing in the Online Dictionary.

Verb
 1. seesaw - ride on a plank. teeter-totter, teetertotter ...

teeter-tottering  or see-sawing might be correct English, it sounds weird nevertheless!
I would stick with "They are playing on the (or a) see-saw." as crissyden suggested!

Thank you very much guys.
I didn t know this word: teeter-totter lol
See-saw is the word mentioned in their books, so I think they will all write see-saw.

I guess it s the old US v UK English.

In Australia  (and NZ) we use see saw . They were playing on the see-saw. However the Americans use "They were playing on the teeter-totter." I rather like "teeter-totter" because of the sound but most children here would look at me as though I were crazy!

I personally find see-saw as a verb quite unusual. Yes it is possible but I would prefer "playing on the see-saw

...also playing on the swing rather than swinging which is now used to mean wife-swapping . I don t think we should encourage children to wife-swap!  Wink Ha! ha!

Oh dear, how English evolves!

Anyway that s my tuppence worth.
Cheers Joy

To modernize things - maybe - computering - as in playing on the computer
Instead of the old problem - I am playing (on/in/at) the computer.

What do you think?Wink

Have a great weekend.
