Articles about English for very young learners

I have to write a litte essay about why children should start to learn English at a very young age and also regarding that some children learn the language as their third language some parents are afraid that the child will have problems later and not speak any of the languages correctly later on. Do you know about any good articles that could provide me with information about these topics? Thanks in advance :)

Children can assimilate lots of languages much better and get them confused much less provided they learn in an immersion environment. I m not sure about how beneficial traditional "translation" methods are for children.

In Ireland about 70,000 people still speak Irish as a first language. A lot of Irish children go to Gaelscoils (Irish language only schools), they learn English and French as foreign languages. If a child speaks two languages speaking a third is much much easier. Usually when they start secondary school they start their fourth language, usually German, or they can just continue to concentrate on French.  Because of growing up in an English speaking country the English is also spoken natively at this point.

here s a slightly related article:

It s so common for Irish gaeltacht children to be tri-lingual that I think it s a good area to look into, it helps that English is a Germanic language, French is Romantic, and Irish is Gaelic, so these are 3 completely different languages with entirely different grammar and vocabulary.

Canada is another country that has 2 first languages, so it s another area where there might be a lot of documentation.
