need a song for the unit on transportation

Hi dear people,
I am teaching means of transportation to a class of beginners (8yrs old)
I am looking for a song to work with in class. I know I am making things difficult but I DO NOT WANT a song that was written specifically to teach, not the Barney or Sesamy street repertoire (if you understand what I mean). I am looking for a regular song, the kind you would hear on the radio. It is enough if it mentions only one mode of transport....but it should be very easy since they are beginners. Any ideas anyone?

Thank you teresapr,

The first link I got to as well but all the songs I checked were too difficult....

the second link is cute but that is what I call the sesamy street repertoire. It is a returning problem. The level is spot on for their level of English but the song is too childish for their chonological age (I mean they would never watch it if it was in their mother tongue...)

This makes it very difficult to find something...something that fits their level and their age i mean...

Yellow submarine

I d agree with the above two mentioned - Leaving on a Jet Plane and Yellow Submarine but my personal favourite would be Bicycle Race by Queen - the chorus lyrics are really simple to learn (although you might want to avoid the cocaine reference later on!)

Other songs I can think of include:

Midnight train to Georgia - Gladys Knight and the Pips
Drive my Car - The Beatles
Trains and boats and planes - Burt Bacharach

Another one that is certainly current is the Journey song covered by Glee - Don t Stop Believing - references the girl taking a midnight train. If Glee is as popular where you are as it is everywhere else I ve been, then your students might already know the lyrics!!!

Hope that helps!

Lindsey
