Murder your teacher

All I can say is that in one of my adult classes a student presented an oral on the laws of sperm donations and it was one of the most interesting conversational pieces my students participated in.  It was controversial but at the same time it made one think of what would happen to someone who donates if their name was given out.  Think about it!
I think it is up to the teacher and the group it is presented to, to decide how controversial the subject may be, and whether it is suitable for the class.

i am really annoy with this, neither of us has the right to judge other professional teachers work. either you download it or not.. as simple as that. eslp has all kind of teachers with all kind of students, this is not only for elementary teachers and that ws could easily be used for adult or high school classes. as bruna said... my brother played with guns and he is not a criminal but a lawyer. students watch a whole lot more violence on tv and video games. another thing is that this shouldn t have been brought to the forum, how would those against this ws would have felt if one of your ws it s being criticise in public?

I haven t seen the ws and it may be good or bad. Personally, I m more in doubt about the wss where the description alone contains four or five serious mistakes and then the author asks about one thing or another in a kind of broken English... I make mistakes, too, no doubt about that, but with some members they are more of a rule than exceptions.

Choosing provocative titles as this one also depends on the class you teach. As a teacher you should be the one to judge whether your students can cope with it or not.

WOW! Personally I agree with MJ Misa- much ado about nothing. I have just finished examining the said worksheet and I can t see why it should be censored. If you don t like it don t use it. Read what Jayho says about each teacher s needs. IF we were to censor everything we don t like then there would be fewer than 50 worksheets available each day. We re adults and teachers let s not get carried overboard. I voted for this worksheet to stay and I stand behind this vote.  It hasn t broken any of the rules!

I m okay with being the victim of a ws. I even make jokes in class when my sts don t behave and I say: tomorrow in the newspaper there will be an article saying: "desperate teacher jumps out of the window" they laugh at it and I can go on with the class.

Why do so many people here feel like they have to complain about a worksheet they don t like.  The great thing about this site is you can CHOOSE to download it or NOT.  It is up to you.  Why should some sensitive people make choices for other people who are not so sensitive?  Why shouldn t the teacher be able to decide for themselves if the material is appropriate for their class or not?

I once found a serious newspaper article in the LA Times about a 76 year old pornography star in Japan.  I made a worksheet for my adult Japanese students who actually sometimes bring up pornography in our adult language class.  But when I posted it here, it was removed because people want to impose their own morals and judgements on others.  My adult students loved the topic, and were very interested in the news article about an elderly Japanese porn star.  Because they are elderly students themselves, it made them feel like maybe their lives could be exciting too even if none of them would actually want to be in such a movies.  It led to lively discussion.  I am sure this "Murder" worksheet will be enjoyed by many students and teachers as long as it is chosen for the appropriate class.

The point of language is communication and communication includes topics we don t like somtimes.  I suggest people that want to impose their morals consider that one of the essential parts of freedom is allowing other people to do what they think is best as long as they are not hurting other people.  How can a worksheet hurt other people?  If you like it download it.  If not, move on to something else!
