Also, it �s not necessary to write or read the zero before the decimal point, so you could say "point four eight" rather than "zero point four eight".
 
That brings up another way of reading them.
Point forty-eight
or   Point four eight
 
Both are correct.

In British English at least it is NOT correct to read 0.48 as "point forty eight".   The reason for this is that if you read 0.5 as "point five" and 0.48 as "point forty eight", it sounds like 0.48 is bigger, which of course it �s not.

In British English you read each number after the decimal point, so 0.375 is nought point three seven five, NOT nought point three hundred and seventy five.
