Dear Colleagues:

Is the sentence below is correct:
" Sometimes I read a book on the beach."

OR

"Sometimes I read a book at the beach."

The second is more common, but you can say the first as well.
 
The first is more explicitly ON the beach, with your beach umbrella looking at the water.
 
The second is usually the same, but you might mean while on vacation/holiday in the beach town instead.
