Any ideas?

When you are referring to something that affects you in a very personal way because you see it every day, who can come up with other phrases that sound more English like rather than these...? This student is referring to homeless people:

The need is quite close...

the situation is very close to me...

this need is very close to my day to day...

Is this sentence correct?

some org. overlook nearby poverty

Thanks a lot for your suggestions:)

You can write

This is an issue that deeply moves me.
This is an issue that is close to my heart.
Is close to home.
This means a lot to me.
This affects me deeply.

Some organizations ignore local poverty.

Hope this helps.
