Have a break vs take a break

What is the difference between take a break and have a break?

There s no difference, at least in American English. I probably use "take" more, but they re really interchangeable, and "have" doesn t sound strange.

I don t think there s much difference. All I can think of is that in the imperative, you would use take . As in, Take your break now. And if you were describing it, you d say, I m having a great break. Eating kitkats and such like.

Could it be something like the Americans tend to say "take a bath/shower and the English say "have a bath/shower ????Just wondering....
