French translation

Dear (native) speakers of French,

I need your help. I have a very old Slovenian folk poem dealing with the problem of the fairy apocaliptic motive of the Pharaonic fish creature which threatns the world with the universal flood.I translated it into English but I find it rather difficult to translate it into French. Here is my English version:

A fish is swimming in the sea,

The Pharaonic fish.

Jesus comes after her

In the deep sea.

»Oh, wait fish, wait fish,

The Pharaonic fish!

We would like to ask you

what is happening in the world.«

»If I flip over my tail,

the whole world will be submersed.

If I turn onto my back

The whole world will perish.«

»Oh, don t do it fish,

The Pharaonic fish.

For the sake of innocent children,

For the sake of women in childbirth.«

I would be really grateful if you could help me.

I would like to thank Maryse for her incredibly good translation of the poem into French. I wonder what changes the native English speakers would make to this English version.
