Help

Hi dear colleagues!

Would you mind correcting  the passive form of this sentence, please?

"Industrial revolution helped to develop new technologies"
->New technologies were helped to be developed by industrial revolution.
If it is wrong could you suggest me an answer, please?

Thank you very much in advance.

Apodo

This sounds more natural to me, and not so cumbersome.

The development of new technologies was helped by the industrial revolution.

Yes, Apodo s answer is better.

I agree with Apodo, but another answer (more natural than yours) could also be:

The Industrial Revolution helped new technologies to be developed.

mimi your sentence is correct

@hilary suzy - A native speaker would not write or say the sentence that way, were helped to be developed sounds awkward.
were helped in their development would be a possible way of saying it.

@Shalottslady - Your suggestion doesn t change the sentence to the passive form.
