The correct conjunction?
|
Many babies can say about three words .. (2) they are 12 months old. But, of course, they start learning their parents language before that. ---------- In the gap filling exercise above, what would be the correct conjunction apart from when / before? Can as /while be considered as a correct option as well? Cheers, Giorgi

Gi2gi, . Ithink that, in the example sentencegiven, the conjunctions, "as" and "while",are not acceptable. In my opinion, acceptable conjunctions could be:"once"; "by the time"; "as soon as"; and possibly, "after". I prefer: "Many babies can say about three words once they are three months old. But, of course, they start learning their parent s language before that." Les Douglas

Of course, Les was projecting his own brilliance (and precociousness) into this when he said "three months old". :) I agree with all of his answer. Bruce |
