Can anybody explain the difference beteween "pain in the" and "ache" to me?
Thanks a lot!

Cecilia.

I think ache has to do with "throbbing" as in a tooth ache where the pain is almost like a heart beat.
pain is a more constant hurting.

But a "pain in the (butt)"  is  someone who bugs you all the time.

I hope this helps.
