							| Hello, my dear collegues!!! I just want to ask for help. Please tell me what is the origin of the proverb "It īs raining cats and dogs". My students sometimes ask me and I promised them that I īll find out the meaning. So thank you very much beforehand. | 3 Jul 2009

							| it does mean raining very heavily but -
Years ago in england when they didn īt have a sewer system when it rained heavily it would often drown the cats and dogs and they would be seen floating down the streets and thus "Its raining cats and dogs". | 3 Jul 2009

							| I read somewhere that it comes from the noise cats and dogs do when they fight on the roofs  , they sound like the thunders. | 3 Jul 2009
