							| No, the meaning for both the sentences is entirely different.   �He looks like his father � means that he resembles his father. (similar to; somewhat resembling). Secondly, it is used as a  �preposition � in this sentence.   �He likes his father � means that he is fond of his father.  �like � is used as a verb here and the sentence is in the Simple Present Tense. The word  �like � is used as various parts of speech like  �Noun, Adjective, Adverb, Verb, Conjunction and Preposition.

 Not always.  You can say, "He �s like his father. He prefers pizza with anchovies."  It �s not always a matter of character.  Like most things in English, it depends on context.  I think this fact is often overlooked.
