Contractions in informal speech

Hello

I am designing a cloze activity on an Aussie football song and it has ļæ½em all the way through it, meaning them.

I ļæ½m not sure, but is this theoretically classified as a contraction for informal spoken speech or is it something else.  Is there anyone who is an expert in this area?

e.g. In there and at ļæ½em, don ļæ½t let ļæ½em in

Thanks

Cheers

Jayho

I ļæ½m not an expert, but I googled several linguistic articles, and everybody calls it CONTRACTION (but a colloquial, informal one)... If anyone is a linguist, they ļæ½ll come and speak up, I ļæ½m sure...
