							| Hi Tamim   The right answer is:  "Weve met some friends of ours"   This is because ours is an object pronoun   They are our friends = adjective pronoun (it acts as an adjective and describes the noun)   Those friends are ours = object pronoun  (it isnt followed by a noun-it stands alone)   I hope this clarifies this point for u :-)   Regards, Alex | 9 Nov 2008

							| Dear Tamin;   I once had the same doubt and a native speaker told me that both are correct but the meaning is different. Its a pity that I dont rememeber that difference very well. | 9 Nov 2008

							| This is a case of double possessive. He is a friend of mine (meaning one of my friends, not the only one I have). mine, yours, his, hers, ours, yours and theirs are possessive pronouns. You could also use the expression a friend of Peters. The possessive construction is the correct one, not the object pronoun (me, you, him, her, us,you, them). I hope this helps. | 9 Nov 2008

							| When we are saying "ours,yours..." we are implying smth. e.g Give me yours.(Yours what? a pen,a car,a pencil..) The pronoun in here substitutes a word. But "us,me,him...."  These pronouns dont substitute a word.. Friend of ours= our friend | 9 Nov 2008
