please help

Can somebody help me with these sentenses?

He lay on his back and turned his eyes upon the retreating form.

Presently he struggled to his feet and started after the child.

The latter wandered in a perfunctory way toward his home, stopping at times to investigate various matters.

The dog lay down and prayed until the child had finished, and resumed his journey.

Are they simple, complex or compound?

2. simple again with compound verbs (nos 1 and 2 have no commas so aren �t compound sentences) 3. complex sentence.

4.compound?
