							| When I was in elementary school knickers were a type of short pants that ended just below the knee (not underwear). | 30 Nov 2009

							| I use the word knickers... I feel silly using the word panties even though it is a normal word for undergarments. We also use the general term of underwear.

							| Panties is rarely used in casual conversation by NS downunder.  We usually say knickers or undies for female underwear and jocks , boxers or undies for male underwear.   Advertisments, however, usually use more formal words like briefs .   Cheers - Jayho | 30 Nov 2009

							| In the US we do not use the term knickers.  They are underwear, panties, undershorts, underpants, boxers, or boxer shorts to name a few. | 30 Nov 2009
