							| Teaching teachers Spanish
 |
							| I have been asked to teach a course of Spanish for Educators.  The area I live in has a high number of immigrants from Latin America, and the teachers at one school would like to be able to communicate more effectively with the families.  Has anyone over done this sort of class before-teaching the dominant immigrant language to the majority?   I am bilingual, and teach ESL and have taught Spanish, but this is the first time I ve done this for other teachers!!  We have chosen a text book "Spanish for Educators" and it looks easy to use/follow, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips for me.  It will be a 10 week class, and I want to keep my students (the teachers!) engaged.   Thanks in advance to any help anyone may be able to offer. | 9 Dec 2009

							| I think there is nothing bad in teaching teachers :) Teachers are always very understanding and they will help you too, so no worries. I think you could do everything you do when you teach ESL to your students...use extra materials (you will probably have to create Spanish worksheets, search for other Spanish language course books and take ideas from there). Watch something with them in Spanish, some short movies, and why not using Spanish songs? Teachers also like songs :) By the way, what state are you from?
