There are junk food and healthy food.
Is it right to say : What kinds of food are there ?

Hi there,
Since there are two types of questions, in your case, two questions could be used:
1. Yes, no question: Is there any type of food?
2. Wh. question, or information question: What are the two different types of food?

No it is not correct.
You can write -
There are two types of food; junk food and healthy food.
or
There is junk food and healthy food.

The sentence has a slight problem as the word food is not used in plural so as liberty said
you say
there is ...... etc
on the other hand, the question you wrote is extremely right.
Hey Priorita, please note that English is no more a specific country or area properity. It is a worldwide language. So the so said " the native speaker is always right is no longer right.

Food is uncountable...so we must use "is" in the question. I agree with you...but the question form?
