Please help me solve the problem about using do or go with activities ending in -ing.
E.g. They like to go bungee jumping or They like to do bungee jumping.
Some grammar sources say that only go can be used with -ing activities. Other sources say - use "go" with activities that can be done alone, and "do" with groups of related activities.
Do you agree?

In the "Spotlight" - magazine from December I found this language tip:
When you talk about a sport you do regularly you can use the verb "to do".

Some grammar sources say that only go can be used with -ing activities
I don �t agree with it ... cos we use "do the ironing"
by the way , I think it should be "do bungee jumping" |

Some activities are both:
You can "go" or "do" bungee jumping. You can also:
do golfing / go golfing
do parachuting / go parachuting
The difference is:
Do bungee jumping is when you practise the sport.
Go bungee jumping is when go to do the sport but you might not practise it regularly.
Example:
She does bungee jumping as a after school activity.
She goes bungee jumping with her friends every month...

To add just a little, I think we would usually say "go" with the verb "like", because it isn �t so much talking about the regular practice, but an occasional activity.
He does bungee jumping as an afterschool activity.
She likes to go bungee jumping on the weekends.
Although both "do" and "go" are correct in both sentences, what I have above sounds more natural.
