							| Can you tell which form is correct on holidays or in the holidays
 |
							| Hi everyone Can you explain which of these two forms are correct. Can we also say "on the holidays"? I know it s correct to say "at night". is it also correct to say "at the stormy night" or do I have to use "on the stormy night, rainy day, foggy evening". I think the prepositions are the pain and I can t find the explanation for exactly those examples on-line. Thanks in advance. | 25 Mar 2010

							| In the holidays is good, but I would say "during the holidays"   You are right about "on the stormy night" etc.   Bruce | 25 Mar 2010

							| At night focuses on the time it happened, same as at 8:00pm, at 10:00pm etc, while on the night specifies which night, same as on Friday, on Saturday. In some situations you could use in the night too, same as in the morning, in the evening etc...
It ll also depend on whether you use holidays or holiday. I d use on the holiday, but like yanogator said, during the holidays is best, as holiday generally specifies one day, same as on Friday yet again, or holiday as in a vacation. Holidays will be an extended period of time, such as school holidays or christmas time, same as in spring, in summer...
