							| Fair Blonde
 |
							| Hi ,   I have a question abbout the words : fair and blonde ??   Are they used interchangeably ?   Are both they used to describe hair and skin ??   Is the word blonde used more than fair ??  Is fair an old word to describe hair or skin ??     Thanks a lot in advance, Noor | 1 Apr 2010

							| In my opinion, blonde is, for want of a better word, yellow hair. Fair could include light brown. Blonde is more common than fair but we teach fair before blonde to students, I think because it covers a broader spectrum of colour!
Fair can be used to describe skin but blonde cant.

 That s my impression anyway!

							| In the US at least, "fair" describes the overall appearance - both hair and skin. You can also be specific and say "fair-haired" or "fair-skinned".   "Blonde" is only for "yellow" hair, as Ishorton99 said. | 1 Apr 2010
