							| why do in English we say the chemist �s, the greengrocer �s? why the  �s? I can �t remember the explanation right now.

							| I think the use of the  �s in this case refers to the use of the possessive form when we ommit onwership as it is understood; it �s a kind of shorthand, i.e., instead of saying at the shop of the greengrocer, or at the shop of the chemist, we just say "at the greengrocer �s" or "at the chemist �s".   I hope I �m not giving the wrong explanation; if I had, sorry!
