Hi everybody,
I need your help. I �ve been taught that you never say;
Me and James are going to the beach.
but
James and me are going to the beach.
Can someone explain to me which one is correct and why? PLEASE!

sorry,
according to what i was taught - and i rechecked in my grammar book to be sure - you have to say:
James and I are going to the beach.
or Do you want to come with James and me to the beach?
James and I = WE
James and me = US so it can �t be the subject of the verb...
and I think you don �t put ME or I in front of James because it �s impolite... in French that �s what we say, I never asked a native speaker, but I guess it �s the same...

What about the rule that sais afeter conjunctions always object direct pronoums. Would it fit?

"James and I" should be in the subject position. However it �s correct to say "me and James" in the object position. (at least that �s what I would say - but maybe I �m impolite!) ;) |
