							| If I am not mistaken, it is LADYBIRD in England and LADYBUG in America. I m not sure about Australia and New Zealand, though. | 4 May 2010

							| Hello nurreyes
Ladybirds  (UK, Ireland, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, India, Malta, parts of Canada) and Ladybugs (North America).
Scientists increasingly prefer the names ladybird beetles or lady beetles, as these insects are not bugs. (from answers.com)   Hope it helps...   Best regards! | 4 May 2010

							| I agree with Minka.   The word "ladybird" is BE. The Americans say "ladybug".   I personally prefer LADYBIRD!! | 4 May 2010

							| Both are fine and young kids must know both because they are in differnt nursery rhymes.  I agree with previous posts on the BE / AmE. Just wanted to say    It s a ..... Coccinella septempunctata    And ... did you know they are named after the Virgin Mary?   And .... they are vicious killers of the insect world! | 4 May 2010
