							| Either one is correct. You can think of it as "There are 12 eggs" or as "There is a carton of eggs". I think "There are..." sounds a little more natural, though.

							| Definitely "There are", because "a dozen" is plural. I agree with Yanogator...."There are a dozen eggs" sounds more natural than "There is a carton of eggs". |  10 May 2010
