Hi Everyone,
I urgently need to compile a list of narrative writing prompts for my intermediate and upper intermediate students along the lines of:
Your teacher has asked you to write a story for a competition. The
story must begin with the following words.
It was five o �clock in the morning when the
phone rang. I �ve looked here on ESLPr. but can �t seem to come up with exactly what I �m looking for.
Anyone got any ideas? I �m not feeling too inspired right now. Even if you only have one or two prompts I �d love to hear them.

Or better yet, here is the complete list, maybe others cn use it too. Some of them are from various books on cambridge first certificate and some are mine:
- Write a composition beginning or ending with the phrase �I will never set foot in that restaurant again�
- �Tony Watkins was arrested yesterday for murder��. You are a reporter. Write a newspaper article starting with this sentence.
- You have decided to enter a short story competition. The rules say that the story must begin with he following words:
She opened her eyes and knew it was going to be a terrible day.
- Your school is holding a short story competition. The rules say that that the story must end with the following words:
�and that was the last time he ever saw her.
- Your school is holding a short story competition. The rules say that that the story must end with the following words:
�It had been the best day of my life�
- You have been asked to write a short story at school. One of the requirements is that the story must begin or end with the following words:
She collapsed into a chair and started crying.
- Your teacher has asked you to write a composition beginning or ending with the following words:
He looked out of the window with excitement as his journey began
- You have decided to enter a short-story competition in a teenage magazine. The competition rules say that the story must end with words:
She got to her feet, took a deep breath and prepared to speak.

I �ve got a book called "1001 Brilliant Writing Ideas" and, as the title says, there are 1001 writing prompts. It might help you.
