							| My family has met is grammatically correct, but met is a word used in sentences like "The school board met for the vote."
The committee met to discuss the bill.

The president met with his cabinet to ...

The employees and  boss met to ...

 Families get together.
 Families  visit each other.

Maybe families meet when they have an agenda to discuss?

My family met at the mall and then we went shopping.

Let s see what others say.
