							| the rule is that with institutions, like prison, school, church etc, you dont use the when you are there for the reason they were created.  we went to the prison to visit a friend ===he was put in prison for his crimes  the children go to school every day ===I went to the scholl to get a certificate I needed.   it sounded strange to me when I first heard it being said like that too, but people in England do make the dinstinction |  1 Jun 2010
