							| "It is time you went back home" is correct, with it s time and it s high time past simple is used. You could say "it s time for you to go home", but it s no longer a hypothetical form. | 6 Jun 2010

							| No. The other teacher is saying it correctly,. It s time you went inside. (because it s getting late) This wording is used when speaking to children- perhaps the adult is wishing the action is already done. It s meaning is It s time for you to have already washed your hands, so hurry up!    It s time you washed your hands. (for dinner) It s time you cleaned your teeth.   While talking to someone really boring one might say, Well it s time I went back to my desk...      This is also correct:-  It s time for you to go back home.                                       | 6 Jun 2010

							| I agree with sulekra.   If you want to express that someone should go home immediately or even should have gone home already, you have to say, it s (high) time you went home.   Just in case you need more explanations, I can recommend this worksheet to you:     | 6 Jun 2010

							| We have two options: It is high time you went back home OR  It is time to go back home. The first option implies that you are little bit late to go home and therefore you  should go immediately. The second option means it is  the suitable  time to go home. | 6 Jun 2010
