							| My suggestion: Give them the dictionary explanation as one of the meanings of the verb get in this particular phrase [verb+noun+to infinitive]=making something happen with some examples He got his sister (ie persuaded her) to help him with his homework. or I couldn �t get the car to start this morning (couldn �t make it start) etc. You can even let them look it up for themselves and make their own example sentences. Then you can add the more spoken variant that the native speakers from the US, Australia or Canada, etc. mentioned.
