							| I was taught that the correct for was:   "In my free time I like playing sports"    "I d like to play sports this summer." But in this time I ve seen in some worksheets : "I like to play sports in my free time" Is it correct" | 11 Jul 2010

							| From what I have read we can use "I like to" when we feel it is right to do something and we choose to do so and not so much when we express preferences. I like to save money. ( a good thing to do/ habit)
I like playing the piano. (preference)

							| Britsh people use like doing( they use ing after some verbs) and american people say I like to do... both has the same meaning. Its the kind of language which is involved. | 11 Jul 2010

							| I can t but disagree. like+to+Verb=to prefer to do sth or for sth to be made or happen in a particular way eg On Sundays I like (ie prefer) to sleep late. like+Verbing=to find sth pleasant, satisfactory, to enjoy sth.  eg She s never really liked swimming. Cheers, Sophia

							| Whilst like...ing refers to enjoyable activities in general and like + infinitive refers to choices and habits, you ll find that native speakers use these interchangeably (and have never heard of the rule). | 12 Jul 2010

							| "Like + to verb" has similar meaning to "want" "Like + V-ING" talks about "our preference" For example: I like to eat ice cream on a hot day like this. --> perhaps, eating ice cream is not your favorite. But the weather is hot, so eating ice-cream is good.
I like eating ice-cream. --> this is your hobby, habit. You love ice-cream and nothing can be compared to this kind of food.
