Hey Jayho,

I �ve tried to find something useful for your needs but I have failed and it is just because I think there is NO special strategy or approach to making a summary of a speech or a video. It is the same as making a summary of a written text only more difficult because you deal with live speech which you cannot stop (well, you can provided....).

I would train my students to summarise a short video in the following way:
1. watch the video
2. discuss the main points
3. elicit the main idea
4. help with unknown words
5. ask the ss to put the summary on paper or relate it orally

Thank you so much for your help. It is greatly appreciated. Your links are all very interesting.

Baiba, you�re right - there�s not much out there for summarising when listening, and it�s such a difficult skill for our learners. Mmm - I wonder if there are any Cambridge books on this.

I stumbled upon this site which is quite good: http://iteslj.org/Techniques/Maggs-VideoSummary.html. It is geared towards the teacher so I am still hoping that someone has an internet link that is geared towards the student.
