							| "since over a year ago"
 |
							| Hello my dearest colleagues; I have a grammatical doubt:
 Recently; I heard this sentence:
"I haven t seen my cousin since over a year ago"

Is this grammatically correct? can we use since and ago in the same sentence?

 What do you think?
 Thanks for your answers

 Have a great day

							| It doesn t sound correct to me. I would say "I haven t seen my cousin for over a year" but you know that the use of certain expressions are used even if they are not correct. I haven t helped much, sorry, let s listen to the natives. Yolanda | 1 Sep 2010

							| You can say:   I haven t seen my cousin for over a year.    or   I haven t seen my cousin since a year ago. [Because a year ago is a particular time]   You cannot say since over a year ago because that is not a precise time. [more than one year]   | 1 Sep 2010

							| As soon as you use the word  "ago " you have to use the simple past because you are talking about a specific time in the past.  You can t use the Present Pefect tense with the word  "ago " because with the Present Perfect the time you saw your cousin is not important. The important thing is that you saw your cousin at some point, but not a specific point. | 1 Sep 2010
