							| Ok guys, I have a nasty flu, a barking cough and a terrible migrain.... thus you can assume my brain is on strike!!!! But I must clarify a doubt I have before my class tomorrow, so, please wonderful teachers out there, help me!!!!here s my doubt: difference btwn "job" - "occupation" and "profession".   My theory is (though I m not sure, tell me if I m wrong plz)   job -  My job is to make hamburgers, I work at McDonald s. (description of what you do)   occupation: My occupation is floor manager at Macy s. (your position)   profession: My profession is Dentist. (higher education required)     Hope you guys can help, cuz I m conked out!!!!    Hugs,    Mar | 6 Sep 2010

							| Hi Mar,  the word job has in its definition the other two, occupation and profession, as well as "a regular activity performed in exchang for money" and " a piece of work done routinely for an agreed price"   occupation an activity that serves as one s regular source of livelyhood, a vocation. A person s usual or principal work or business   profession a vocation or occupation founded upon specialised educational training   so I guess that your definitions were pretty much on the mark   good luck, get well soon | 6 Sep 2010

							| Hi Mar, my wishes for a speedy recovery, first of all. It just so happened that I was talking about this with some fellow teachers the other day. I have to agree with Frank, and I would add that the word "job" has a negative connotation, since it means the work that you do to make ends meet, even if you don t like it. Contrary to this, the word "profession" entails being useful to society, apart from being highly educated. (If anyone has a different opinion, please share it with us.)   Get well soon, Mar!!! | 6 Sep 2010

							| Didn t get a chance to check the forum this morning, good thing we had change of activity and my class hour was taken (hehehe) so... just in time to check your suggestions!   Frank, Savvinka, Valentina, Kodora, thank you all so much for the time taken to post your suggestions, and most of all your best wishes for my health. I feel half-way human today, not quite out of it, but a wee better, thank you so much for caring.   Ok, I think I got a clearer picture of the definitions now, and am now ready to answer any questions, yay!!! thanks again! You guys are a wonderful bunch!!! So glad to be part of this great community!!!   Hugs!   Mar | 7 Sep 2010
