Hello! I was completing my monthly plans when a "silly doubt" appeared. How do you say : Students will write the sentences ON their copybooks or IN their copybooks? Thanks in advance

IN their copybooks/notebooks/jotters etc. They might, however, write/paste their names, gang affiliation or Hello Kitty ON their copybooks etc.
