							| IM A NEW TEACHER IN MY FIRSY YEAR. TEACHING THE ABC LETTERS.   I HAVE AN IMPORTANT QUESTION: WHEN YOU TEACH A NEW LETTER AND YOU WRITE ON THE BOARD WORDS THAT BEGIN WITH THE LETTER- DO YOU TELL THE CHILDREN TO WRITE THE WHOLE WORD ( E.G. DOG)  IN THEIR NOTEBOOKS OR JUST TELL THEM THAT DOG BEGIN WITH D . THANK YOU! | 10 Oct 2010

							| Dear Etibenben   When I introduce new sounds of the alphabet.... I emphasize the sound (initial sound - d as in dog) and then let the children copy the words from the board (or do other activities such as cut and paste words to match the pictures)  A good idea is to write all the "ds" in red (eg.)  dog,  duck,  dam, dust.   Enjoy your first year of teaching.   Kind regards Joey     | 10 Oct 2010
